Geocache Description:

This cache is located just north of the Clarion University campus. The terrain is minimally difficult and should be acceptable for small children.

This is the first of what we hope will be many more Clarion, PA caches. We were shocked when we first started geocaching at the small number of caches in this area, specifically in and around the town of Clarion. We've named this in honor of the Clarion University mascot, the Golden Eagles.

The cache is a large, 5 gallon bucket with many Clarion University of Pennsylania goodies. This is a family friendly hide! Please feel free to take a sticker or something small, even if you're not leaving an item for trade. Also, we've left a disposable camera. If you are one of the first 27 or so people to visit the cache, please take your picture and we'll upload them to the site.

A note about parking: the best place to park is on the Clarion University campus, behind Still Hall in Lot 3. To find a campus map, go to (visit link) To the left of the map you will see Main Street, Still Hall, Lot 3, and a row of trees. The trailhead is near the top portion of those trees. The entrance to the parking area is at N41*12.772' W079*22.677'.

If you park on campus, the best time to avoid a parking ticket is after 5:00 PM during the school year and on the weekends. You're pretty safe any time when school is not in session, and this particular parking lot is not frequently used by students during the school year anyway. Of course, you can always park somewhere off campus and walk to the cache (on Liberty Street or at Adagio Health across Main Street from the trailhead).

To find the trailhead, go to N41*12.669' W079*22.426'. Follow the trail past a ropes course and a small pond to a stream bed. You will notice white marks on trees that, we think, signify the trail. If you follow the stream bed north (towards the Clarion River) you will get closer to the cache site.

Good luck, have fun, and remember to take your picture. Go Eagles!
