Geocache Description:

River Road Dixie Regional Medical Center
In the Green Valley Conference, down by the cafeteria
On Thursday Sept 14 from 6:30-9:00pm.

This workshop is geared towards cachers wanting to go paperless with their PocketPC (PPC), and it would also be great for those who are already using this program with their PPC and would like to gain more insight on the different features that are available within the program. And for those who are looking to go paperless, but want to more information before they buy a handheld unit.

Audipain has put together this excellent workshop for PPC users to use their handheld to go paperless. He is suggesting the following to be preloaded for this workshop.

For this event, please download and have installed GPXSonar onto your PPC using the links below. Each of the versions below has a .exe file and a .cab file that can be downloaded. .exe file will install the application on your home pc then onto PPC via activesync .cab file can be copied to your PPC and then run from the PPC to install it. Either way will work. Choose whichever you feel comfortable with.

If you have PocketPC 2002 you must download version 1.21 from this site:

If you have PocketPC 2003 and newer including Windows Mobile 2005 you must download version 1.4 from this site:

I will try to have all these files available at the event so they can be beamed to those that haven't yet installed it. However, to save time, please try to have it installed and ready. I will also provide the cache data files at the event so they can be beamed to everyone and we can use them to learn the software. If your device cannot beam via Infrared, please contact me and I'll email you the files.

If you would like to install the software on your PPC then run the program to ensure that it works, it would save time. When the program is first started, it will ask for the user to browse to a .gpx file (geocache info file). Just click cancel. It should run the program anyway. If no error messages appear, you're all set.

GPXSonar is an awesome tool to aid you in Geocaching. It'll save you all the time that you would spend printing and writing down cache information and get you out there quicker. Just grab your PPC and GPSr and go. This tool can do so much and we'll learn how to do it all including:

- View cache info as if you were reading them on geocaching.com including logs, terrain, last found and hints.
- Filter listings to display all caches with TBs, by owner, direction of travel, and much more.
- Decode hints with the drag of your stylus.
- Coordinates bookmark manager.
- Log your finds in the field so you won't forget what and when you traded.
- Manage your Travel bugs where you picked them up and where you dropped them off.
- Show all your finds and the caches you own automatically.
- Export the info to your GPSr.
- And so much more....

If you plan to attend and have any questions, please email me (if you want) with your name and Handheld device model # so I can better prepare: audipain
