Geocache Description:

This cache is located adjacent to a site deemed historically noteworthy by the Borough of Tamaqua. The historical marker reads as follows:

Hegarty Blacksmith Shop

Built in 1848 by Thomas Hegarty, born in County Cork, Ireland, and operated continuously by three generations of the Hegarty family from 1848 until 1973. It was donated to the Tamaqua Historical Society by the Hegarty family in 1974.

A few years ago this was struck by a car and signifcantly damaged. They have done a nice job at keeping this maintained as it was when ownership was transferred.

Cache is the little container a set of fuses come in. It has been painted to blend in with its surroundings, and slightly modified to make it hidable.

Cache is adjacent to the blacksmith shop, not on or in it. I spent over seven hours trying to pin down coordinates for this, and never got better than 52 feet for accuracy. If you get better cooordinates than mine, don't complain about my stupidity, just post a note with the new ones and I will update them accordingly!

This is my first hide, hope you all like it, and I plan on several more in the Tamaqua area.
