Lonesome Deadwood
Starting point: Annaghdroghal Bridge, Aghagallon.
Leave Lurgan taking the road leading to Aghagallon, which then goes on to Aghalee, Ballinderry and Crumlin. Before you reach Aghagallon turn left into Annaghdroghal Lane - the lane name sign is easy to miss as it is overgrown, but there is also a sign pointing to the National Cycle Path.
Follow Annaghdrogal Lane past Droghal Farm to your right, and on to a narrow bridge. Cross this and pull in to park on the right, there is space there for a car.
Follow the cycle path along the Lagan Canal, the path is tarred and the walk is easy with no gradients.
Horse drawn barges once played a vital role in the transport system, carrying tons of merchandise between Belfast and Lough Neagh ports.
Unfortunately the canal at this point is in need of some TLC ( sadly this is not unique to this area ) though I believe Craigavon and Lisburn councils are trying to remedy this.
The cache is a small box containing, when placed, a logbook, pencil, sharpener, and several goodies. It is placed about 1 metre from the path.
