Garth Hill Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

JessopSmythe: Since apparently you're not allowed to have a job and run geocaches - or be unable to replace them due to the ground being covered in snow on the day you do get away from work to sort it, I'm archiving this to avoid getting snarky messages from modmins who think this is the only thing going on in my life!

Geocache Description:

A fairly easy find at the top of a rewarding walk. Some people will tell you that this was the scene for the shooting of the 1995 film, "The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain" but that was filmed about 100 miles away. What you will get here are some spectacular views up and down the Taff Vale, over Cardiff to Flat Holm and beyond and Northwards into the Brecon Beacons. The tumuli around the cache, including the large one with the trig point on, are 2000 year old burial sites and are protected. There's loads of routes up to the summit but my prefferred one is to park at 51°32.513'N 3°17.208'W and make the most of the views on the way up and down. It's quite a popular spot so some stealth may be required on sunny days. Placing a lookout near the trig point during retrieval / replacement may be useful.
