Thanks For The Gold! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Catlon: OK, this is an easy ammo-can cache, so it must be missing. I guess it has run its course, so will archive it to make room for somebody else. It's a proxy can - I have the original "gold" can at home. Thanks all for playing, and for those dnf's here at the end after it went missing, you may claim a find if you want. (Catlon)

Geocache Description:

Located in Mt Airy (Or as some would say, Mt Catlon)

On July 30, 2006, a group of friends helped me celebrate my 1000th find. A couple of weeks later at a “Chat” event, some friends presented me with 2 ammo cans. One was a 1K golden ammo can designed and created by 4leafclover. And the other ammo can was donated by Ladybuggers, and filled by 4leafclover with the intent that I place this can. Well, here it is - the “thank you” cache.

This cache is very easy to find – a classic hide. Park at the Red Oak trailhead (at the oval loop) and hike about 400 feet to the cache. The trail goes gradually downhill, and there is a gully dry-wash that you will have to cross (I couldn’t make it “too” easy!). Be careful in wet weather.

The cache was placed on August 20th, the last day of my 2-year geoversary. August 21, 2006 starts my 3rd year of caching. So as the cache title says, “Thanks For The Gold”! Thanks to all my friends who helped me reach 1000 finds in 2 years of caching. A special thank you to the first cacher I ever met on the caching trail, 4leafclover - thanks for the gold, Katie!
