Peterborough - Off The Rails! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CromScout: Due to the original nature of this cache and it's openness to Geocache vandals I have closed this one dow. THe container will be recycled and returned trn in another guise but to change the cache type and the size etc. and of course the location I will close it down. Thanks to all who supported it - especially to Bob (Not quite the fat controller) for keeping a day to day eye out on it, Russ for encouraging me to fit a bilge pump for thoe annual floods and the rescue a couple of times. Pink Paisley for the numerous visits logging in and out and all whom I have failed to mention for numerous TB moving.

Cheers

George

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Sited within 1 mile (Drive off, Cache & Drive on again) of the A1 Great North Road and near the junction of the A1/A47. 2 Miles west of the City of Peterborough on the Nene Way.

Near the Nene Valley Railway Station at Wansford, Peterborough.

Parking is at the NVR.

Directions :
Turn off the A1 at the Stibbington fly over, which is 1 mile south of the A1 / A47 interchange and 4 miles north of the end of the A1(M). Look for the large brown "Nene Valley Railway" signs on both the A1 and A47.

Note: Avoid Wansford village on the opposite side of the A1.

Parking : Free

Also nearby is an ideal picnic and tourist spot with facilities for all (refreshments & toilets) just check with the museum on (visit link) for opening times.

The cache is an Ammo Box totaly independant of the NVR and does not require access whilst the museum is open.

As the route to the cache passes alongside the NVR please keep hold of young children and dogs.

Due to localised flooding in the area at times we have taken the precaution of "Tying" the cache to a post on the boardwalk - shouldn't prevent you from retrieving the box and doing the necessaries. If you find this was a nigh on impossible task - let us know.
