The Therapeutic Three Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

dgauss: Time to archive this high-maintenance cache. The large safety pin at stage one keeps getting moved. Stage two is missing for the third time. Surprisingly, stage three has had no problems. Furthermore, this brings us down to the recommended limit of four in the arb and opens up some interesting possibilities for other cachers. However, the therapeutic concept is alive and well in our Trail of Fears series along the lower Cannon.

Geocache Description:

It is well known that geocaching has helped many people with their physical problems. This multi-cache is designed to help deal with some commonly occurring irrational hangups by employing the highly successful treatment known as "encounter therapy". Compared to consulting a psychiatrist, you can amortize the cost of a gps unit in one easy 3-stage session.

Stage 1. Acrophobia @ N44° 27.684, W093° 09.530 (the listed coordinates). Before ascending to this location, locate a plaque at ground level near the entrance by the lower SE corner. Let Y = the sum of the last four class years listed on the plaque. While ascending to this location, count the number of steps from ground level. Let X = that number. Take a peek over the edge. You're safe. Speaking of safe look for a safety pin near the upper SW corner. Its number should also be Y-3. Take another peek over the edge. Feeling better about heights?

Now let's deal with your mathphobia! Let ABC = X+Y+633 and let DEF = X + Y.

Stage2. Hydrophobia @ N44° 27.ABC, W093° 09.DEF. Overcome your fear of water. To get to stage two you'll need to cross a bridge and lean out over a river to retrieve a micro containing the coordinates GHI, JKL to the final stage. Do not attempt this stage if the river is swollen or if swirling whirlpools are present.

Stage 3. Claustrophobia @ N44° 27.GHI, W093° 09.JKL. Afraid of narrow, closed-in places? So was I. But placing this cache helped me overcome that fear. Now you too will have ample opportunities to conquer this dreaded phobia as well. Good Luck.

Winter friendliness? Stage one should tolerate about 50 feet of snow; stages two and three should tolerate about three feet.
