Geocache Description:

Cool, (really cool) swimming hole on the Gordon River.

To approach the area from the Cowichan side you have to drive to Honeymoon Bay. As the paved road ends you'll see the sign pictured here. Turn left and immediately right (toward Gordon River / Port Renfrew) and drive 9.6km to N48deg 48.225 W124deg 18.710. There you'll see a little rockpile and some flagging tape marking the "Mount Sutton Trail" trailhead. Park your car here and follow the trail for a good 100m or so down to the river. From the Port Renfrew side, take Gordon River main, go past G.R. a few kms towards Cowichan and look for the trailhead on your left. The cache is on the other side. Don't worry, you can cross the river without getting your feet wet, even if the water is high. Just be careful and take it slow. The cache is hidden near the entrance of a nice swimming hole. If you like cold water, this place is for you. There is a beautiful waterfall at the top end of the canyon, but you can only see it if you get wet. You can actually wade through the river in the summer and check out the falls, but I must tell you it was mighty chilly even at the end of August. If it's not too wet you can also (very carefully) climb the rocks and see the falls.
