Geocache Description:

A quick walk in the woods and a lesson in tree identification!

Located in Stanislaus National Forest near a campground. Now a long time ago, this wasn't a campground, but rather a Boy Scout camp of the same name. In fact the cache owners spent some of the best years of their lives tramping through the woods here. Not much left of the camp but memories, still a great place for caching! Do not park inside the Dimond-O campground gate. They will charge a day use fee.

The cache is a 30 cal ammo can located a short (but strenuous) walk from Evergreen Road. When placed the cache contained:
a 5$ bill for FTF
toy car
glowstick whistle
lucky travel stone
pearl ornament
cat toy ball
carabiner
bag of rocks
7/16" wrench
superball
dinosaurs
multiscrewdriver
So here's the mystery, and my apologies to the botanists among you. In the Sierra Nevada there are three tree species with tiny scale like leaves. The Western Juniper is usually found at higher elevations. However both the Incense Cedar and Giant Sequoia occur at this elevation and in this general area. Both species are big, big trees. When you find the cache, take a picture of yourself (leave the camera!) and let us know what you think. Is it Calocedrus decurrens or Sequoiadendron giganteum?
