Come Fly With Me Travel Bug Hotel Traditional Cache
RosMcC: Sadly this cache has to be archived - but it has done it's duty and a lot of trackables have passed through. Confession time - the geocachers at the bottom of whose garden the cache has been lurking are ourselves, and we are moving house very soon, so the cache has to go. Maybe I'll find another good spot for a TB Hotel soon, but in the meantime this one is permanently closed for business! A great big thank you to hairytoeman ( great meeting you and HTM jun. at the cache today ) who has taken all the remaining bugs in the hotel to move on.

This is a traditional cache containing logbook, pencil and the usual assortment of goodies. However, it is also mainly intended to be a “Travel Bug Hotel”
I have realised that many travel bugs stay in N.Ireland for a very long time – some may want to of course, but others want to travel further. There are bug hotels in Ireland, but to the best of my knowledge none before this in Northern Ireland – correct me if I’m wrong. I thought it might be a good idea to have a cache placed near to the International airport, so that any geocachers who are flying off to exotic places ( or even to places that aren’t so exotic ) could visit it quickly en route to their flight, pick up any travel bug that may be there, take it with them on an adventure, and place it in a cache in some far-flung destination. You don't have to be flying off somewhere though, just call here any time and take a bug for a trip.
Also, if you have a travel bug and want to give it the opportunity for foreign travel, then you can bring it along and leave it here to await further transport.
With this in mind, I thought it best that the cache is of the “cache and dash” variety – no long walks involved, no hills to climb, no mud to scrape off shoes, no nettle stings to scratch - no-one wants that when on their way to catch a plane! It has to be in a position that can be accessed quickly and fairly easily – hence the location.
You will need to be on the Moira to Airport road. Drive from Moira till you come to the turn-off to the left into Glenavy, pass this keeping on the main road, then drive another 50 metres or so, about half-way to the footbridge. Park on the hard shoulder, look for the tallest trees along the fence, and finding the cache should be easy. The cache is a fairly large clip-lock box covered in black duct tape.
Please record the name and objective of any Travel Bugs that you leave here, both in the bag with the bug and in the logbook. Please try to update this website and the travel bug website as quickly as possible to avoid other disappointed visitors.
Don’t worry about the people who live in the house, they won’t bite! They know about the cache and are geocachers themselves. And you don’t need to enter their garden anyway!
