Geocache Description:

This cache was placed as part of the 4th Annual Geocaching Hampton Roads Picnic.

Hampton Roads is a great place to learn about geocaching. There is an active Yahoo Group (visit link) that welcomes questions from newcomers. There is a wide variety of caches throughout the area (including over 40 in Newport News Park), so you never have to go too far to look for a new challenge. We also have a Basic Geocaching Class held periodically in Newport News Park by The Two Unusual Suspects. This is a great way for a new cacher to pick up some valuable insight. I took the class when I had about 20 finds, and learned a great deal. One of the more useful subjects covered in the class is what to take with you while you're out in the field. This cache is a nod to The Two Unusual Suspects for all their time and effort spent helping new cachers learn the ropes (time they could have been spending out looking for caches!). It is stocked with items suggested in the class. Please try to keep with the theme if you can; if you have something that makes you caching life easier, pick up an extra one and drop it off in the cache. And although it is against the standard practice, if this cache is find number 20 or less for you, or if you've just come from the class, you have my permission to take something without leaving anything (one item per team please!).

The cache container is an ammo can hidden not too far from where the class is taught. Just a friendly reminder, if you stay out in the open for as long as possible, you will greatly reduce the amount of bushwhacking you have to do!

FTF prize: pair of compact binoculars. Congratulations to LeoCaptKirk & Skylar for the FTF!
