This land was donated to the city in the early 70s by the Conner
family. The value of the land was used as a match for Federal
Dollars when the city acquired River Mountain Park about the same
time. This was one of the first pieces of property acquired in the
quest to create a chain of parks along the Arkansas River and
someday link up the downtown area with Pinnacle Mountain State
Park.
The land although rather far removed from River Mountain Park at
the base of River Mountain Road is actually connected in a round
about way by the valley connecting River Mountain Road and
Southridge Road which is all part River Mountain Park and a series
of utility easements. The lake is stocked with catfish periodically
by Game and Fish.
It's been a long time coming, but the park has finally been
developed into an everyday place where people can go and enjoy the
outdoors. A new parking lot has been added, so there's no longer
the need to park across the street.
You are looking for an ammo can.
If your coordinates vary from those posted, please let us know and
we'll update them. Happy hunting!!!
