Geocache Description:

This cache is the re-incarnation of GCVFMY "Melodies of Nelspruit", which succumbed to progress in the form of yet another secure residential complex. Big thanks to Gps Storm who rescued the cache before it became totally inaccessible, and for freeing up this great cache location when they recently archived GCRWMK Cross Town Cache.

The cache is hidden on top of a hill overlooking Nelspruit near our city's unique water reservoir. Take Ferreira street up into Steiltes suburb and approach the cache from behind the reservoir.

The cache has a musical theme. Feel free to swop a CD - you might even find something familiar there.

This unique water reservoir, affectionately known as the "Dodo", was built to commemorate Water Year 1970. The name "Dodo" is short for it's geometric shape, which is a dodecahedron, made up of twelve equal pentagons. The name "Dodo" also came from the residents' opinion at the time of how taxpayers' money was being wasted on a less than optimal structure. Now, 36 years later, we are very proud of our "Dodo", which you can see from almost anywhere in Nelspruit. Sadly the area seems to collect litter, which the council cleans up periodically. You may be lucky in this regard, or you might not. Please take a bag with, and pick up what you can. The view is worth it.

We decided to be kind with this cache, and make it accessible for the whole family. We found the perfect hide nearby which could have been a physical challenge of note. Take a look at the pile of rocks about 20-30m west of the cache (to the left), and look through the holes at your feet into the caves below. What a temptation!! That's where it could have been!!
