Park anywhere in the village of Dalrymple and find the Doon, then just follow the arrow. I walk my dog here every day along with lots of muggles, so beware...I'm watching!
Please replace exactly as found!
Mora Weir...
Mora Weir lived at Skeldon House, wife of James Weir, who was the brother of the first Viscount Weir. Mora was the first woman in Britain to obtain a flying certificate and along with a Spaniard named Juan De La Cierva, made numerous experiments with an Autogyro (fore runner to the helicopter). Mora Weir used Barbieston Holm,(this young woodland) as her airfield, where she built a large hanger to store the aircraft. The first Helicopter flight in Britain took place at Dalrymple on the 7th June 1938 in this very field in a Wier W-5. If you look in the river you will find a large lump of concrete, a left over piece of the hanger.
Please have with you some sort of writing instrument for the log!!
