Geocache Description:

Outstanding! Idyllic! Awesome!

Loacted adjacent to Lake Whakamaru on the Waikato River, Dunham Point is part of the developing Waikato River Trails. From here you will see Hikurangi Island, home of the Whakamaru Christian Youth Camp, known to locals as "Tom's Island", after Mangakino Pastor, Tom Lind, who was active in developing the island in the 1970s and 1980s. It is now a popular holiday camp for church, schools and youth groups. No bush bashing is required to find this cache. A 1.2L sistema camo painted container. From here you may like to walk the 3.8km long trail along the Waikato river. There is a similar 3km walk at Arapuni. Eventually many walks along the river will be available.
