Welcome to the SWAMP. The trail to Koeneman Lake (formerly known as Fern Lake) is a nice walk in the woods and you end up at a very nice lake...but around half-way you come to the SWAMP. It's not pretty, but it's part of nature. Along this part of the trail is the cache. The accuracy of my GPSr was between 30 and 60 at they time but seemed to be settling out when I took the coordinates (I took several and averaged them). Parking is located across the street from the trailhead at Carney Lake.
Please continue on to Koeneman Lake; enjoy the hike and visit the other geocaches - "Young and Strong Near Old and Gone" and "Koeneman Lake Fish tale (FERN LAKE)"
The Cache contents includes two fishing DVD's and some general fishing stuff and some fish magnets. Since this is one of my favorite spots to fish (not the SWAMP, but Koeneman Lake) I decided to make FISHING the theme of this cache (but don't worry about staying with the theme if you want to swap goodies). If you do fish Koeneman, please pay close attention to the special rules in effect for this lake.
