Geocache Description:

The cache is located in Dane County's Jenni & Kyle Preserve...along Nine Springs Creek.

Parking is on the south side of Post Road...just West of Syene Road.

The preserve is next to the Madison Area Rehabilitation Center and the land was donated by Harvey and Patrica Wilmeth in 1989 as a memorial to their two children Jenni & Kyle (both age 4) that died from a neurological disorder. This is a special park that is being built to serve children and persons with disabilities...there is even a swing for wheelchairs.

There are already some nice facilities including restrooms, water fountains, picnic tables and a stocked (during the summer) fishing pond for kids under 14 years of age.

The path around the fishing pond is paved and easy travel for wheelchairs. The cache is further down...but that trail is currently a grassy path.

The rest of the park is marsh...but you won't have to walk through that.

There are plans to make a paved path all around the park...complete with a wildlife observation deck in the back. I have seen several deer run through there.

Muggle Report: I have been to this park a dozen + times and here are my findings.

(1) There is a guy with short blonde hair and wears a baseball cap that works nearby. He rides his bike around the trail for exercise and goes by the name of "Sasquatch". When I was scouting out the park...he knew I was a GeoCacher and is familiar with GeoCaching. He has no GPS himself...but says he has found several caches and signed the log...he even signed this cache's log. He seems to be a decent guy and if he is watching you, don't worry about him...he knows the cache's location is and is seeing if you find it.

(2) There are a couple people, what appears to be, Transients living in an old bus parked on Post street just a hundred feet or so West of the parking lot. They sit in chairs at night...I guess, watching the mosquitos.

(3) Twice, I saw one county employee mowing the lawn and doing other maintenance near the fishing pond. I talked to him and he explained about the future of the park.

You are looking for a Rubber Maid Container (See Picture)...in it is a log book, cache permit and some pens.

For the "FIRST TO FIND", there is a new, unregistered Travel Bug in its plastic bag...take it with you...it is yours.

See The Pictures For Some Insight.

(2) Tell me what you think the Terrain/Difficulty Rating is.

This cache has been authorized and the proper "Special Use Permit" was issued by Dick Black, Operations Manager, Dane County Parks Division on September 22, 2006.

There is a miniature copy of this permit taped inside the logbook...and I also posted a photo of this permit.
