Geocache Description:

Please note: Any use of information on this page is entirely at the users own risk. This page is for information only.

This chalk pit was once used to mine chalk stone which can be seen in houses and walls in the village to this day. The pit is also the venue for the local 'egg rolling' competition. On route there are numerous varieties of fruit trees to admire and from the chalk pit itself the views are breathtaking (there is even a bench to rest on after that climb). There is parking available in 'Westbrook Street' just off the village highstreet (A417) at N51 34.018, W001 14.389. Follow the bridleway on the opposite side of the road for about 0.38 miles up hill to the cache site. Please watch out for the barbed wire!
