Approximately a 4 mile round-trip hike up Gold Mountain to a
beautiful panoramic view of the Olympics.
The shortest route to the cache is from the Gold Creek Trail
parking area located here:

There are a couple access points from the parking area to trails
which lead up to the tree-line. Your first task is to find one of
them and successfully climb to the unmapped logging road here:

Follow this road south, around the mountain to this waypoint:

From this point you will leave the main forest road and take the
road that I refer to as ‘The Road of Many Ditches’. Diagonal
ditches have been dug across this road to keep out the vehicles,
but they’re easily traversable by those on foot.
This road terminates at a large circular landing with breathtaking
western and southern views of the Olympics and Hood Canal. Take a
break here and enjoy the view; have a seat in the log chair
courteously provided by some unknown previous visitor.
The landing is at approximately 1425 feet in elevation. The cache
is located at about 1450 feet in the only stand of trees near the
landing.
