This is a letterbox cache - the stamp and inkpad stay in the cache - You take an imprint of the stamp and leave a copy of your personal stamp in the logbook (if you have one)
Cortachy and Clova War Memorial sits just off the Kirriemuir to Dykehead road, and makes a great stopping off place to whet your appetite for the other local caches.
When we set the cache we were surprised by how few names were actually on the monument. There were 11 names from the First World War and 2 from the Second. There must have been many men who went to fight in both wars from the local area, so it was fortunate for the families left behind that so few were actually killed in conflict.
The area with the monument is still well cared for, the plants cut back regularly, a fence erected around it and the ground near the memorial regularly weeded. We assume that Airlie Estate are carrying out these tasks.
The signal was atrocious when we set the cache and we assume it will be just a bad when you try to find it, so the clue is very exact.
