Eagle Nest Traditional Cache

The cache is a two-litre peanut butter jar covered in duct tape, approx 20 m off the trail on the side away from the ocean, at that location on the trail which offers the best view of the eagle nest site.
The major attraction on the approx 23 km hike along the East Coast Trail between the bus stop in Goulds and the end of the trail in Bay Bulls is undoubtedly The Spout. However there are quite a few other attractions as well, one of them being the sea stacks located only 1.2 km south of The Spout and only 0.6 km from the campsite at Little Bald Head. The nearer stack has been the site of an eagle's nest for quite a few years, and it has not been unusual to see eaglets there with an adult eagle, and the other adult flying about. This year, however, the site has only the remnants of a nest and some feathers and bones from past feasting by the eagles. A secong great view of the stacks and the nest site is a little further south at N47 21.533; W052 43.885.
