Geocache Description:

Either solo or in a group, have fun with this 7-stage multi that will take you to some interesting locations all over Seattle. It ends with a physical hide, the cache. All other waypoints are virtual.

At each virtual waypoint you will be given a hint to come up with two words (A-word & B-Word) that you will find there in clear view. Use the instructions lower down in this listing (below all the waypoint information) to compute a pair of values (A & B values formatted as x.xxx) from the two words found at a given waypoint.

The values computed from one waypoint will be needed in the coordinate formula for the next waypoint. Your GPS should get you within 10 meters of a given waypoint. At that point the hint should allow you to zero in on the words you need. The letter length for each word is given so you can have confidence you have found the correct words.

All the waypoints are on pedestrian walkways, sidewalks and paths. Regardless of what your GPS says, stay out of the road. At several locations you will have to watch out for bikes. You can drive right up to some waypoints. Others will require a bit of a walk. The ones you have to walk to offer the best views. Enjoy.

How to Convert Virtual Words into Values:
Take the first 4 letters of a given word, convert each letter into a single digit counting from the beginning of the alphabet. For counts over 9 use only the rightmost digit. Format the 4 digits as x.xxx to form the value you need for the formula.

For example, suppose at WP2 A-Word is "Geocache" and B-Word is "Adventure". < >
To convert the example A-Word into an example A-Value: Take the first 4 letters of Geocache" to get GEOC Convert each letter into a single digit using:

A=1 B=2 C=3 D=4 E=5 F=6 G=7 H=8 I=9 J=0
K=1 L=2 M=3 N=4 O=5 P=6 Q=7 R=8 S=9 T=0
U=1 V=2 W=3 X=4 Y=5 Z=6
(notice that two digit counts use only the right digit).

Then WP2 example A-Word "Geocache" becomes GEOC.
Using the codes above GEOC becomes 7553.
And 7553 is formatted as 7.553.
Thus, for the WP2 example A = 7.553.

And WP2 example B-Word "Adventure" becomes ADVE.
Using the codes above ADVE becomes 1425.
And 1425 is formatted as 1.425.
Thus, for the WP2 example B = 1.425.

Finally substitute the values of A&B for WP2 into the formula for WP3 to get the coordinates for WP3.

In every case A&B values calculated at one waypoint are used in the coordinate formula for the next waypoint.
