Geocache Description:

This is now a micro cache located near the top of Masson Hill near Matlock Bath. The cache is a small Avent container and so will not hold very much, it just has a log book and pencil in it at the moment.

There are a number of ways of getting access to the cache location.

It is possible to walk from the village of Bonsall by taking a minor road and then a footpath that climbs Masson Hill.

Another possibility is to pick up the footpath near the main bridge/railway station in Matlock town centre. There is plenty of car parking available at the station (pay and display).

The "lazy" option is to take the cable car from Matlock Bath. This costs £10.50 return per adult at the time of listing and include entrance to the attractions at the top including two show caves. There is plenty of car parking available at Matlock Bath railway station (£4.50 per day, pay and display) which is a short walk from the bottom station of the cable car. Check www.heightsofabraham.com for opening times and the latest prices. If you are visiting the Heights of Abraham you could look for the cache after visiting the Great Masson Cavern (guided cave tour). The cache is not on land owned by the Heights of Abraham attraction but is short walk outside their complex. Please note that even this lazy option involves a fairly decent hill.
