Take a dirt road climb and then hike to incredible views of Lake
Chelan and the Entiat Valley.
Stormy Mountain is the highest of the nearby surrounding
mountain tops with an elevation of 7198 feet. Check out the
foundation of a fire lookout that was built in 1919 and the nearby
benchmark and survey marker.
This cache is approachable from either Lake Chelan or the Entiat
Valley. From The Entiat River Rd you want to take the Mud Creek Rd
or Potato Creek Rd up to Rd 8410. There are other roads winding
over the hilltops so beware. From the Lake Chelan side you will
take the Shady Pass Rd to the Snowberry Campground turnoff. From
there you will pass the campground and wind your way up to the gate
past Windy Camp. Follow the trailhead from there. No pass is
required at this trailhead. The sign says it is one mile but this
is as the crow flies. The trail will take you nearly another half
mile. I made this trek in my Mazda sedan but I would recommend a
high clearance vehicle. ENJOY!
