Geocache Description:

Solve the Puzzle First - Easy Grab and Run

The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates. To find the cache you must first solve the puzzle.

Lake Matthews is a large reservoir in Riverside County, California, located in the foothills southwest of the city of Riverside. It is the western terminus for the Colorado River Aqueduct that provides much of the water used by the cities and water districts of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Lake Matthews is not open to the public and has restricted access. The lake is surrounded by a chain link fence with a series of numbered gates. The cache is located to the right side one of these numbered gates. You must determine which gate is GZ by a very obvious hint contained within this page or by calculating the intersection of 2 arcs using the 2 listed gates as the centers of the circle for the radius of the 2 arcs. The distances on from each gate was calculated by GPS from Waypoints established at the 2 gates. Gates are numbered in a clockwise manner starting at gate #1 which is located just east of El Sobrante and La Sierra.

WP #1 = Gate 12 = N33 49.316 W117 25.280 = 2.32 miles
WP #2 = Gate 22 = N33 51.123 W117 27.361 = 1.56 miles


After seeing there was much fuss over the ‘Ham Sandwich’ at the nearby cache - “Guarding McAllister”.
I dedicated the name of this cache to the allusive Ham Sandwich.
FTF will get a gift certificate to for a REAL foot long HAM SANDWICH (sub) at one of those Ham Sandwich places.
