Attendance was sparse last year, but I did
receive several of messages saying "I wish I would have
known". You are getting plenty of notice this year so I
do not want to hear any excuses.
Please join us as
early as 6:30 am EDT on the south steps of the Statehouse for a
geocachers meet and greet prior to the start of the 31st running of
the largest half marathon in the world. Runners participating in
the mini are asked to start moving into the corrals as early as 7am
so we MUST have this wrapped up between 7:15 and 7:20am.
Hopefully there will be many geocachers from out of town to meet
and will partake in pre-race preparations such as stretching,
hydrating and waiting in line for the port-a-johns. Pop-tarts
will be available for any poor soul mad enough to eat one before
the run. Those not running in one of the events are welcome
to attend, but please be warned that downtown will be a complete
zoo on this morning. You should also know that parking fees will be
fairly salty this morning too. Those who are running in the 5K are
also encouraged to attend. Be sure to bring along any Travel
Bugs with running related goals. You must sign the logbook to claim
as a find. Again we will have event swag for all attending
(it will be small enough to easily fit in the key pocket of your
running pants).
Jim Honey took home
theFTF (first to finish) prize
last year, a PDXMarathonman Geocoin with a finish time
of 1:39:52!

Again this year, the person who signs the
event log and is the first attendee to finish the 13.1 mile course
will receive a 2 coin set of Indy Diver V1.5 coins (donated by the
world famous Indy Diver himself).

To be eligible for the geocoin, please post your
finish photo with your "attended" log. Finish photos will be
available at www.brightroom.com.
Please watch this page for
updates.
