Geocache Description:

Parking coordinates: N 35 49.662 W 081 51.752

Off of Hwy 181, take a left on Fish Hatchery Road for 3.4 miles then turn right (N 35 49.617 W 081 49.684) on Forrest Service road 118 “Back Irish Creek”. Go approximately 2.6 miles and park on the left side of the road.

The cache container is a homestead monitoring device. It houses a small container for some trade items.

If you know about my other caches in the area, you can guess that we found this great site while riding our mountain bikes. I thought it would be great to place a monitoring device to keep an eye on the Old Homestead

Just bring your hiking shoes for a short hike to Old Homestead. The cache is located near a series of mountain bike trails called Back Creek. If you are a hiker or biker, you will have a multitude of trails to choose from in this area after you find the cache. If you would like a map of the trails, just send me an email.

From the parking area, go over the two dirt mounds and walk or ride about 125 yards up the trail. Turn left at the orange ribbon trail markers and cross the creek to the Old Homestead. The monitoring device is not on the chimney but is within a 100 yards and is out in the open. Good Luck and have fun!
