Geocache Description:

A cache placed during an ATV Rescue!

On August 31, 2006 a local teenager took his mother's new ATV for a ride. We're still not clear on the details, but something went wrong. Twelve stitches later the teenager is doing okay. The ATV - we'll that is another story.

On Labor Day, September 4, 2006, six neighbors mounted a rescue attempt for the ATV. We drove our cars as close as we could. We then hiked and drove ATV's as close as they would could get. The last 100 feet or so was all on foot. The cache is placed where we found the ATV. With one missing front wheel and two flat rear wheels we dragged the ATV to where we parked the ATV's. We then attached a tow rope and dragged the broken ATV back to the waiting trucks.

In memory of this most noble event we placed a cache at the very spot where the ATV was found. When you find the cache try to imagine how someone got their ATV in this spot and imagine what it took to get a broken ATV with one front wheel and two flat back wheels down to the dirt road below.

You can park about 1000 feet away from the cache. From the road there is about a 285 foot gain in elevation. Cache should be an easy find once you get to the spot. Enjoy the view and if you find any more pieces of a red ATV - go ahead and pick it up for us.
