Geocache Description:

OK you are standing beside a fairly boring triangular field maybe 2 or 3 horses in it??

Is that all???

Have a look to the back of the field - close to the horse trough, with the open field behind. Can you see anything there? A short pillar maybe? With what looks like a plaque on it?

YES?

You have just found McComies Field!!!! It has taken us over a year to find this place after being told about it - so we decided to make it easy for everyone else

So what is McComies Field??

This is the only field, locally,(the only one we have EVER seen) which has a stone pillar and plaque displaying a cast iron sign plate naming the field. This plaque commemorates the deaths of the sons of John McIntosh better known as “McCombie Mor” on 28th January 1673, in a fight over land rights which occured in McComies field.
