Cocked, "Locked", and Loaded Multi-Cache
-Tiki-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

This is a four stage multi-cache that takes you on a path from downtown Beaman, IA to Wolf Creek Park along the Comet Trail. You will cover about 2 miles on your trek to the final if you decide to walk or bike. If you are not in the mood for that much exercise you can drive and park between the stages to cut down the distance greatly. Parking coordinates are listed below.
The first three containers are just big enough to hold a small slip of paper with the coordinates for the next stage and a clue to figure out the combination of the padlock on the final container. You will have to use your surroundings and some elementary math to figure out the numbers of the combination.
The posted coordinates take you to a 4.7 inch Howitzer Cannon on Main Street in Beaman. Start your search here and make your way along the Comet Trail to the final. The start of the Comet Trail in Beaman is located at the south end of Beckman Street. If you decide to drive, parking for stages 2 and 3 is located at
N 42.13.060 W 092.48.961
The final container is locked with a Master combination padlock. You may have had a padlock similar to this on your locker in school. In case you’ve been under a rock and never opened one of these, here are the directions for opening off the package…..
1. To Open- Turn RIGHT 3 times. Stop at 1st number.
2. Turn LEFT one full turn passing 1st number to stop at 2nd number.
3. Turn RIGHT and stop at 3rd number. Pull shackle.
Once again if you decide to drive, parking coordinates for the final are
N 42.12.844 W 092.47.235
I encourage you to walk or bike the Comet Trail if you never have. This was once the railway from Conrad to Beaman to Gladbrook. The trail is nice and flat and well maintained. It is great for biking, but can get mushy in the spring and after heavy rains. Enjoy the scenery and wildlife along this great trail.
Please use care when removing and replacing the containers, especially at stage 2. Please return them exactly as you found them and leave no trace at the final.
***Note*** An area near the final is open to pheasant hunting. Please wear blaze orange during hunting season and take the proper precautions to assure a safe cache hunt.
