Off of Hwy 181, take a left on Fish Hatchery Road for 3.4 miles then turn right (N 35 49.617 W 081 49.684) on FS road 118 Back Irish Creek road. Go .8 miles and park on the right side of the road, you will see the trail on the left side.
Bring your hiking shoes for a very short hike! The cache is located near a series of mountain bike trails called Back Creek.
If you know about my other caches in the area, you can guess that we found this great site while riding our bikes. I thought it would be great to do a tribute to a man that was born in 1777, lived 80 years and served this fine country. Unfortunately I have not been able to find additional information. His wife lived to be a ripe old age of 84. Maybe a fellow Geocacher from the area will be able to provide us with some additional information.
The container is a standard Ammo box. Feel free to bring a few trade items and please share any information on Major Marler.
If you are a hiker or biker, you will have a multitude of trails to choose from in this area. If you would like a map of the trails, just send me an email.
