Geocache Description:

This is a regular geocache in Oak Tree Canyon in the BLM La Cienegas Conservation Area.

For detailed directions to the La Cienegas/Empire Ranch conservation Area please see my Empire Ranch geocaches or Empire Gulch geocaches. In fact, you will want to review the driving directions from Empire Gulch because we stopped there just before coming to this canyon.

From Empire Gulch proceed north up the main road to EC 902 which is the first left after Empire Gulch. We drove all the way to the end of this road. The BLM map of the area shows this road continues to Hwy 83. The road goes by an old windmill and water tank. Picturesque maybe but way way too mosquitoey to leave a cache. Not too far after the windmill the road climbs, gets skinnier and enters forest service land. Then the road is barricaded. Can go no further now. Shadowace thinks it is because the Doppler Radar is not too terribly far away.

So back down into the canyon we head. Where to stop. It is all so beautiful right now after so much rain. Wait there! I have it. Over by that oak tree!

Cache is a pretty big tin. Lots of grass to walk through on the way to cache. Pleae rehide it well. Also pull off the road to get to the cache. We actually had traffic on this Labor Day on this road!

You are at 4832 foot elevation and we had 11 feet accuracy on our GPS so cache should be easy to find.

The placement of this cache was approved by Keith Hughes, Tucson BLM. 520-258-7200.
