Geocache Description:

This is small cache at the summit of SR431 as it passes over the highest year-round pass in the Sierra Nevada range. It is also located at the trailhead used by many hikers to summit Mt. Rose.

There is a great rest stop and parking lot situated at the summit of the Mt Rose highway that was desperately in need of a cache; and now it has one. This cache was set so that the avid hikers that plan to summit Mt Rose can find it on there way up and those leisurely cachers that are just traveling through the area have a reason to stop and enjoy the views. There is typically ample parking and the cache is located just a short walk from your car. You may be tempted to climb to the cache, but don’t. Follow the trail as if you were going to start the climb to Mt. Rose. Once you have reached the top of the steps the cache will be easy to reach on somewhat level terrain. Once you get to the cache site you should not have any trouble finding the container. However, this area is probably covered with a couple of feet of snow most of the winter and the cache may be inaccessible at times of heavy snow.

This cache has a theme that I would like others to stick to. I have filled the cache with tokens and coins that are not real currency. You know the stuff I am talking about, you probably have a fist full of these things spread all over your house.

Tokens to get golf balls at the range
Tokens used to wash your car
Tokens that your kids got a Chuck E Cheese and never used
Poker chips
Wooden Nickels
Tokens with meaningful sayings on them
Tokens with stupid sayings on them
Tokens to get a beer at the Blues and Brews fest
OH…did I mention Geocoins?

The idea is to search through the pile of coins and tokens and see if there is something you can use. Just make sure you leave at least one coin or token for every one you take. Try not to leave real money.

FTF: In the baggy with the log is a coin that has some value to all those over 21 years old.
