Geocache Description:

Located on Kiowa National Grasslands. This area is a designated hiking area of the Sante Fe Trail. You can park at the interpretative sign area and hike it (about 1 3/4 mile round trip) or you can drive to within 600 feet of cache. Be sure to see the dinosaur track and inscription rock as both are very close to cache.

The cache is a 1/2 gallon water jug. It is about 75 feet from dino track. This track is in the bedrock and is about 14 inches by 16 inches and shows the foot pads and three claws. The cache is at the same elevation as the track. We placed a circle of small rocks around the track to make it easier to find. Inscription rock is about 400 feet west of this cache and is located in the rimrock about 5 1/2 feet off of ground. There is a slight overhang on the rimrock and the carvings are to the right of a small cave like opening.
From stoplight in Clayton NM take hwy 56 east about 3 1/4 miles. Turn left on Hwy 406 and go about 12 miles to campbell rd 9it is marked) turn left and go about 3 1/10 miles to interperative sign center. There is a restroom and two covered picnic tables there. You can hike it from here OR drive 1/4 mile north to green on right. Go thru gate and continue east for 6/10 mile to windmill. Park there and follow GPS.
