I didn't realize that this cemetery was here until my caching buddy
Deuceman mentioned it recently. I've driven by here hundreds of
times, purchased a vehicle at the dealership adjacent to the
property and participated in my weekly bowling league nearby. I
must have tunnel vision.
Wickliffe Cemetery is located in Lake County at 28855 Euclid Avenue
behind the Provo House in Wickliffe, Ohio. Please park in the lot
behind Provo House and enter the grounds using the wooden walkway.
Do not use the driveway at the west end of the property unless you
require wheelchair access. Although the driveway leads to the
cemetery, vehicles are prohibited from the grounds.
While scouting this cache, I experienced an amazing amount of
wildlife activity here. I found three deer feeding at the edge of
the wooded area, a falcon grabbing dinner after diving into the
underbrush and there were a couple dozen monarch butterflies
feeding on the flowers just off the wooden stairs leading from the
parking lot.
There is a very comprehensive map of the cemetery plots near the
path as you enter the grounds. You will notice that there is a mix
of stones dating as far back as 1808 and at least one new stone
that is not more than a few years old.
Please be respectful of your surroundings. No grave markers need
to be disturbed in order to find this cache.
Please observe the posted hours which prohibit night caching at
this site.
