Geocache Description:

A long time ago in the upper yarra valley there were lots of water wheels and special fast water wheels called pelton wheels used to do work for people. The Upper Yarra Hydro History series is all about them.

One of the timber mills in the area was powered by a water wheel. The timber men cut down many many trees leaving big stumps. It's taken a long time but new big trees are now growing. Many of the native tree ferns in the area are returning too.

Access
This cache is designed to be easy for all the family to take part in. An able bodied adult or teen will be required for some minor parts of the cache but all the family can easily stay within a few metres of the action at all times. There are about 20 metres where prams will not be able to be used but the rest is solid terrain 1. If you desire a walk with the tiny tots a pram would be handy but if not take an easy drive by instead.

History
Wile I haven't been able to find any specific hydro history about the location it is most probable that there once was some as it seems like a great place for it.

Some things to keep in mind
Given the cache name I thought I'd just say that no part of this cache requires you to enter farmland or go over fences. In your travels you may see stuff that belongs to muggles but is located on public land. This stuff should be obvious and should be left alone. All cache related items have cache info on / in them i.e. stash note like info and are hidden out of muggles' way.

The Cache
Last week (there's our history bit) farmer Dee had a delivery of some new equipment and he needs help to make it go. That's where you come in. Go to the posted location and you should find Farmer Dee's House and the new Equipment. Your job is: get the equipment going. Please note it is hidden in a safe spot where an able bodied older cacher will be needed to retrieve it or a smaller cacher with help. Parents please note we are talking a few kilograms here. Big cachers make sure you let the small ones have a play too. Please take care with the equipment as some of it isn't that easily replaceable.

After you've got it going you will notice wildlife frequenting the area. Small cachers should count this while the older ones enter the final digits of WP2. After that please carefully replace all items where you found them.

Take care here not to leave tracks near waypoint 2 as this will may result in muggling. If you take a close look you will see where to carefully rest your foot while the next bit of info containing the coordinates of GZ is retrieved. When retrieving the waypoint tag please hold the metel object and do not pull on the laminated tag or it will bust. This place was to be GZ but after considerable attempts to hide a bucket here I chose to make it a waypoint instead as the large bucket was just too obvious

The cache is a 2.6ish litre Amo box labeled 'Geocache' and contains a log book and co lour ed pencils for small cachers to leave a log and/or picture + the usual items. It is hidden where small people will be able to reach and retrieve it with ease.

This has been placed for the fun and exciting caching event 06 however the idea was conceived before last years event but shelved due to lack of time then. Enjoy.....
