Why Maree? (Canterbury) Traditional Cache
TheWanglers: Have to go past a locked gate and "Do not enter" signs, so I am going to put this one to rest.

A pleasant walk beside a stream and through farmland will take you to the cache within a popular recreational area on the northern outskirts of Christchurch. You will find it between the walkway and the boundary fence.
There are many entrances to the Waimari walkway. One of these is close to the cache.
Please note gates to the popular Groynes recreation area are locked at night. The car park within the Groynes at S43° 26.873 E172° 36.635 is about as close as you will get to the cache from this direction. From here there are two well sign-posted loop walkways. The one to the cache is about 4 - 5km long if you do the whole circuit. However the cache is closer going anticlockwise which means you could take a shorter return walk of 2.8km if you wish. Taking this shorter route there were no stiles to climb over when the cache was hidden. There are several stiles beyond this point. The track is a little rough in places for a stroller at the moment
This is a walking track only no bicycles allowed. There is massive maintenance work being done in the area and detours can happen at any time.
The cache was a camo 800ml snaplock container when hidden. The contents included log, stash note, pencil, pencil sharpener and items for swaps.
