Geocache Description:

The town of Blind River has about 3000 inhabitants. Its history as a lumber town is commemorated in the Timber Village Museum. Blind River was the site of the largest white pine mill in Canada with an annual capacity of 120,000,000 board feet (280,000 m³) of lumber (an output it never reached in actual production.) Its main businesses nowadays are tourism, fishing, lumbering, and uranium refining. This river was called a "blind river" because the river's mouth is not easily seen from the lake. Its native (Ojibway) name is "biniwaabikong", which means "at the fallen rock" due to the smooth, sloping rock face along the river.

The cache area is one of our family’s favorite picnic spots and is easily accessible by car, boat, sea plane, or snowmobile...pending the right season. Easiest way is probably by car from Highway 17.
