100 Acre Woods Travel Bug hotel is meant to be a nice easy cache to retrieve and drop travel bugs. It is started with four Disney Pooh Characters, Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. There goal is to race to Virginia Beach and end up in the hands of the owner’s son Priemur another geocacher. All travel bugs are welcome in this cache and the owner would like to see several animated character travel bugs there. The Cache is a standard Ammo Container. It is easily accessible from I-78, either the Lenhartsville exit or the Hamburg exit.
If you are looking for additional adventure, park at the end of Reservoir road. There is a nice posted map showing an approximately 12 mile hike. CAUTION: You will be on state game lands some of the time so wear orange during hunting season.
Start pt the service road to Northbound on the Appalachian Trail (AT) white 2”x6” blazes to Pulpit Rock for both the look out and the cache (GCEA1A)
N 40° 35.785 W 075° 55.888.
From there Continue North on the AT to The Pinnacle look out and cache (GCEA27) N 40° 36.814 W 075° 54.732
Again continue North on the AT to the blue trail. Go left on the blue trail back to the Hamburg Reservoir and then your parking lot. If you go past the blue trail 1/3 of a mile N. on the AT there is a clean water source on your left (N40 36.326, W075 56.728). It is marked with a sign. Nice Hike but the AT portion to the Pinnicle is rocky in some places.
An easier hike would be to take the service road to Pulpit Rock then north on the AT to Pinnacle and return to the Parking as above. Or North on the blue trail past the reservoir. Take the trail to the right to the top of Pulpit Rock. Also near pulpit rock is the Lehigh Valley Astronomical Society (LVAS) site. Enjoy
