This is BB's 46th cache.
The Portland Botanical Gardens were established in 1857 and are consequently amongst the oldest in Australia. There are neat lawns, a historic curators cottage, croquet field, and many plants and trees to look at.
3 patricularly rare species that can be found here are the Cordyline Australis (NZ Cabbage Tree), Rhus Viminalis (African Sumach) and the Wigandia Caracasana.
The gardens are open from Sunrise to Sunset. This is a perfect place for a family BBQ or for a place to just sit and enjoy the surroundings.
The cache is a simple find, that doesn't involve damaging the gardens in any way. You don't need to be lifting up masses of foliage or walking all over flower beds.
Enjoy.
