Geocache Description:

Just off the carpark, this is almost a drive-by cache.

Who does not know the pink KiwiLoo on the rest area next to SH1 between Levin and Otaki?

Well, the answer is: "Not as many as you think, 0Paco!" as there has not been a toilet here at all for the last few years!

Short history of the "Have a Wee Break" toilet stop: Ever since we moved to Palmerston North in the late 1980s, the large drink-can-shaped toilet was the obligatory stop for our small kids, on our trips to Wellington and back. the toilet changed from pink to green (start of 2008) and then was taken away altogether (end of 2008). Next, halfway 2009, people have been kind enough to put a yellow KiwiLoo on the same spot. For the last two years there has been no toilet again. Our kids have grown up now, which is just as well...

The cache is a green 1.3 l ClickClack container. It has, at times, not been found, but people seem to always have found it in the end. Our GPS is accurate to about 8 metres, so don't expect the cache to be in the spot where your GPS says "0".

Apart from the notebook, pencil and sharpener (please leave these) it seems to have less and less interesting items in it. Please, be generous.

Careful with the barberry growing close to the cache - it's very prickly and can be very painful. When replacing the cache, please cover it with some dead leaves, etc.

It is an easy place to try your geocaching skills when you have just arrived in Wellington from abroad (we call it overseas).

Although it's near a busy motorway, most of the muggles are on their way through and won't even notice you. At worst, some will stay and have their lunch - make sure you have some drinks and snacks with you. You can also spend a few minutes feeding the friendly chickens.

Please log any trackables you pick up or drop off.
