Geocache Description:

The Sand River Geocaches: This is one of four caches located in the area of Sand River. All are off the ground so that they can be found in the winter snow. This one is a two quart pitcher, hung in a tree with an S hook.

Though never incorporated as a village or town, Sand River actually appears on some maps. Along with a cluster of homes, two businesses have served travelers here. The Seacoast @ Sand River Resort was the Pine Cone Motel and the Sand River Motel. The restaurant and bar, presently closed, has been known as Hawkeye Red’s, Mean Gene’s, and Lakeside Inn, and has been torn down.
