PLAYING HARD TO GET

Way up North, in a land of Stone,
lived a girl named Fluorite, who was not well known.
Every single morning, right after her shower,
She’d dry off quickly and apply Talc powder.
Then she’d brush her Calcite teeth,
But Fluorite was troubled deep underneath.

Her heart was cold, her life lacked fun,
The man she loved was named Corundum.
He lived in a house of Gypsum board,
Because Corundum only built what he could afford.
He lived out West in the year-round sun
But his life too, wasn’t much fun

Each and every morning he’d read his reports
He’d check his watch, with movement of Quartz
Finally, he’d shower, and just to keep dry,
Sprinkle on some Talc then to work he’d fly.

Then one morning he was seized with fright,
“I don’t want to be lonely, I love Fluorite.”
“I’ll call just once, and if her heart is true,
I'll ask for her hand, and she'll say 'I do'."
He checked his Quartz watch, it was time to call
Then he picked up the phone, off his Gypsum wall.

Somewhere far away, she heard the phone ring,
She wiped off the Talc, because it started to sting.
“Corundum is calling!” She started to crack
“I’ll just let it ring, I bet he’ll call back.”
