Geocache Description:

A neat little, quick two stage multi that is in the area of Church Bridge and a very large underground natural gas storage facility. You are standing on approx. $99,000,000 while doing this cache.*

* If it is summer or fall time and natural gas prices remain high.

This is the richest cache in the country. But, this area doesn't look like it!

This is located at Church Bridge. During the summer many kids jump off this bridge and swim to shore. Also, some gas customers jump off this bridge when they receive their winter bills. The first time I came here it was a very busy place.

Below us is one of Consumers Power natural gas storage fields. There are 55 of these in Michigan. This is a large one! Michigan's underground natural gas storage is significant. We have more gas stored underground than any other state. About 623 billion cubic feet. During the spring and summer they pump the gas down far into the earth and during winter peak demand times they pump it back up. This way they can meet high demand during cold periods. Pipelines just couldn't handle the demand during the winter months. On a cold winter day about 66% of our gas comes form these underground storage areas! WOW!
