Step Into Cheshire - Biddulph Valley Way Traditional Cache
Cheshire Countryside: This one had a good innings but it appears that the local 'pond life' have discovered the location, so it's time to retire the cache. Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to seek it out.

A walk along an old railway trail at the edge of the moorlands.
This is one of a number of caches placed for the 'Step into Cheshire' event with the intention of encouraging people to explore the Cheshire countryside (see web page listed at top of page).
Parking is available at Brunswick Wharf, off Buxton Road in Congleton, or at Timbersbrook Picnic Site.
The Biddulph Valley Way once brought coal from Staffordshire mines to the main line for Macclesfield and Manchester and also into Congleton. It never really carried a lot of passenger traffic and after the coal trains ceased it became a walkway from Brunswick Wharf in Congleton all the way to Biddulph in Staffordshire. You can access this cache by cycle or horse as well as on foot.
There are lots of circular walks that can be taken using the network of rights of way and the canal towpath. There is also the nearby Dane-in-Shaw Pasture site of special scientific interest which has wonderful flora and butterflies in the summer.
The cache is a standard sandwich box and initially contains a variety of goodies from Cheshire attractions including Tatton Park and the Salt Museum.
