Geocache Description:

All waypoints are within walking distance and there is some slight elevation. It should take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete if all answers are correct. The cache is a camo tape covered cylindrical container.

This is a 4 part multi-cache with clues to solve along the way. It has 3 preliminary stages plus a final stage where the cache is hidden. At each of the preliminary stages there is information relating to the history of the local area. Below is a list of questions to be answered at each of these stages. The correct answers provide coords to the next stage and part of the coords for the final. Once all 3 preliminary stages have been visited and questions answered correctly you will have the complete coords for the final.

All stages are within walking distance so park the car closest to the posted coords which is stage 1. You should be parked in a side road (there is plenty of parking space) and will be very close to the posted coords. DO NOT PARK ON THE MAIN ROAD.

It is strongly advised that you take a calculator with you because there will be some good old fashioned (it is a history cache after all) basic math questions and precision will save you time and frustration. Read the questions carefully and check and double check your answers before moving on to the next stage.

N43° and W079° are assumed.

All numbers are to be read from left to right e.g, the first digit of ‘1987’ is ‘1’, the last digit is ‘7’ and the second last (or third) digit is ‘8’.

STAGE 1:

Coords to Stage 2:
1) The community had grown to how many buildings?
2) Multiply this by the year the community had grown to that number.
3) Divide the answer into 2,238,554.5 for N coords and into 1,014,286.0 for W coords.

Partial coords to Final:
N43°ax.xxx W079°xx.xxb
W: Use first digit of the number of buildings (answer to 1) above) for ‘b‘.
N: Double it for ‘a‘.

STAGE 2:

Coords to Stage 3:
1) Add digits of the year.
2) Multiply the answer by 2.46425 for N coords and 1.11845 for W coords.

N: Add first and second digits of the year for ‘a‘ and use third digit of year for ‘b‘
W: Use first digit of result of 1) immediately above for ‘c‘ and ‘d‘.

The number of time the word 'SETTLERS' occurs for ‘a’.
The number of times the name of the leader of the settlers occurs for ‘b’.
W:
Add first two digits of year of establishment for ‘c’.
The number of words that contains 3 letter 'U' s for ‘d’.
