No Mans Land Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hybridgeek: For those of you unaware, it came to my attention several months ago while doing a routine maintenance check on my cache, that it was missing. There was no sign of any components of the cache around the area. On a check back a few weeks later, there were still no signs of the cache or any components of it. This smells of foul play to me and has led me to decide to not replace the cache.

I am also uncertain of my future availability to do any required maintenance on the cache as I will be out of the area for some time with limited time back on occasion.

Thank you to all the cachers that visited my cache. I wish you all a wonderful caching future and hope to create a new cache in the area for you all to enjoy in a few years when I'm back in the area.

Geocache Description:

Down in the no mans land of Seneca Creek Stream Valley, this cache is well hidden where life once grew.

This cache is well hidden and should be difficult from any direction, but will be significantly easier depending on your approach path. The terrain on the hike in is messy and will be slippery (if not mildly dangerous) in the winter with snow, and will be more complicated when caching with young children any time of the year. The stream valley is closed at sunset; do not attempt this cache after dark, and try to leave before it gets too dark or the trip can be dangerous.

The cache container is a "lock and lock" container that is approximately 6x8x2 inches. It is clear and has one of the medium sized geocache stickers on the top of it. Please be sure to close it properly and lock it to ensure the contents stay dry and intact.

There are 2 good PUBLIC areas for parking (see below) and several different routes to reach the cache, each with different obstacles to overcome.

PUBLIC Parking areas:
N39° 11.215 W77° 12.866 (2 approaches from here)
N39° 10.619 W77° 13.087

Parking is limited and may not be available at all times at both locations. First parking coordinate was only estimated using Google Earth and may not be entirely exact, but that shouldn't make a difference.

Constant Contents: (please leave this stuff in the cache, except trash bags)
1) Logbook
2) Pen/pencil
3) Stash note (English and Spanish)
4) Business card cache owner note
5) My "been here" tag
6) Pencil Sharpener
7) Special Use Permit (Authorization permit from Park Manager) - Please let me know if you DON'T see this in the cache on your visit.
8) Trash bags (please help clean up the stream valley if you have time)

This cache is hidden extremely well hidden to help with the plague of cheaply hidden "streetlight caches" that are common to the area. Please let me know if you have any problems, and as always, I welcome comments (good or bad) on the placement of the cache and such.

This cache is authorized by the park manager in charge of this section of the Seneca Creek Stream Valley.

Last Minute Notes:

The location of this cache is somewhat of a Bermuda triangle for GPS and cell phones (at least for mine they are). I often times find I don't have reception in one spot but do 2 feet away. The coordinates listed are the average of a second set of 5 I took at a later time (than the initial posting) but may still be off.
