Prints, Chaws Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Printess Caroline: Prints, Chaws' reign is over. Today, we made our walk around Mud Pond and picked up all the pieces of a good and, by all accounts, well-liked cache. Thank you, one and all, for your visits and your generous, entertaining logs. They have given me great joy and, I'm certain, will continue to make me smile each time that I go back to read them, which is something that I enjoy doing now and then. I hope to post pictures of the parts sometime soon to make the archives of this cache complete.

While it is a little sad to archive this cache, I'm already thinking excitedly about a sequel. I've got the perfect name for it! Hopefully, it will be ready for a spring release.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Moreau Lake State Park and is a letterbox hybrid with an emphasis on “hybrid”. It also is a multi-cache and has mystery cache elements. All parts are located along the Mud Pond Trail, marked with red-orange disks. As you search, you will discover that you have entered the realm of the beaver.

The first stage is in an unconventional container. It will give you information that you will need to write down and bring with you to the second stage.

At the second stage (also unconventional), you will use the information from stage 1 and what you find at stage 2 to determine the final coordinates. The final container is a 30 cal. ammo. box.

I suggest that you park at the beach in the park or start from a campsite for a pleasant walk of about two miles in length. Depending on the time of year, there may be a fee to enter the park or the roads beyond the entrance may be closed. In that case, you may choose to park along Spier Falls Road at N 43* 14.765, W 073* 42.692. You might also park here for a shorter walk if you are in a hurry.

Pun Intended

You will need to bring:

 • Paper (a printout of this page would work and might be an advantage)
 • Pen
 • (Inkpad if the weather is cold enough to freeze the one I left for your use)
 • Signature stamp, if you have one
 • Personal logbook, if you have one
***Please leave cache stamp, inkpad and instructions where you find them for the next cachers to use also.***

I hope that you enjoy this somewhat different cache hide and that it teaches you just a little something about beavers.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to muggloid (evil muggle) activity at the original first part of this cache, I have made this a 3-part rather than a 4-part cache. As of November 18, 2007, I have modified the coordinates, description and difficulty rating to reflect this change. I'm sorry to see the original first part go, but I think that this cache retains its character even with the removal of a fourth of the fun.
