Geocache Description:

Lake Moogerah is situated about one and a half hours easy drive from Brisbane or 63 kilometres from the country town of Warwick.

It was originally formed by the damming of Reynolds Creek in 1962 to provide a reservoir for irrigation within the Bremer Valley. The lake is of medium size being 880 ha with an average depth of 10.5 metres. The solid concrete wall holds back 92500 ML of water below the confluence of Coulsons and Reynolds creeks.

The word Moogerah is said to be a local Aborigine word meaning "place of thunder storms".

Unfortunately the water levels in the dam have been very low over the last few years and this dam is just another demonstration of the current water crisis.
